iPhone devotees North of the boarder can smile today, as Rogers Communications has
reached a long anticipated agreement with Apple to offer the wildly popular iPhone in Canada. The iPhone should be available in stores this summer. Specific financial details have not been released, but it is thought that Rogers received more favorable terms from Apple then other carriers. Rogers had a lot of leverage because it is Canada’s only GSM cell phone carrier. Other Canadian carriers operate on a CDMA network, which is not compatible with Apple’s iPhone.
Apple has sold over 5 million iPhones to date and expectations are that another 5 million will sell this year.
