The way be another cell phone price war brewing, but this time it isn’t monthly plans, but high end cell phones that may see prices plummet. AT&T is preparing to give new customers a $200 subsidy on the upcoming 3G version of it’s wildly popular iPhone. The iPhone, which has sold in droves at full price, has been retailing between $399 and $499 depending on the model. Bringing down the price of the iPhone would open up a huge new market of prospective customers to AT&T Wireless who have balked at spending so much on a cell phone. The price move will also probably force other carriers to drop the prices of their high end phones like the LG Voyager from Verizon.
