AT&T has announced that it will bring Yahoo’s Flickr.com photo website right to the TV sets of its U-Verse subscribers. Bring Internet content directly to the television has been a major goal of both Internet content providers and TV service providers. Internet content providers want to break free from the small computer screen and reach more users and TV service providers want to distinguish themselves by offering exclusive content, especially as competition for subscribers has heated up with AT&T U-Verse and Verizon FiOS taking on the previously monopolies of the incumbent cable companies. Last month there was talk that Verizon was in negotiations with YouTube.com to exclusively bring the Internet’s wildly popular video sharing site right to subscribers TVs.
