
The European Union has decided to scrap the long outdated rule that forbids using a cellular phone while flying. For years, tests have shown that cell phones do not interfere with flight equipment and the ban on cell phones had no technological rational. The new system will implement an onboard base station that will communicate to the phone network by satellite since there are few cell towers at 10,000 feet. There will be some additional cost to using your cell phone on a plane, but pricing has not been worked out yet. Only GSM phones will be compatible. The pilot will be able to shut off the service if needed and you will not be able to use your cell phone during take off or landing. The only remaining problem will be what to do if you are stuck in a middle seat between 2 chatterboxes flying from
