Broadband Internet Speed

internet%20speed.jpg“Up to” is a seeming innocuous term, but it basically tells you that you don’t really know what you are getting whether it’s gas mileage or Internet speed.  A recent survey in England by Point Topic, claims that, depending on the speed pacakge, as few as 4% of Broadband Internet customers are getting the full speed of the package they subscribe to.  Often times, customers with “Up to 16Mbps” packages were seeing download speeds of less then half that.  Slower speeds were better, but only slightly, with 15% of “Up to 8 Mbps” customers getting the full speed they are paying for, though almost three-quarters of 512 Kbps customers achieved maximum speed.
