AT&T rolls out Cellular TV

cell%20phone%20tv.jpgAT&T wireless will begin a cellular television service May 4, starting at $13 a month.  The service based on Qualcomm’s MediaFLO technology will compete with a similar offering from Verizon Wireless.  MediaFLO is a one way delivery technology geared to send live video streams to cellular handsets.

The $13 per month subscription will include four major network TV channels, Fox Mobile, CBS Mobile, NBC, and NBC News, while additional channels from Comedy Central, MTV, Nickelodeon, CNN Mobile and ESPN will be available for only $2 a month more. A third, higher tier plan, costing $30 a month will include an exclusive movie channel offered by Sony Pictures.

 

The new service will only be available on compatible on selected handsets and there will be parental controls available as well.
