A discussion about the Telecommunication Industry

Well, my Magicjack seems to be working better now, except the voice mail to email is still down.  It’s interesting that the outage happened while I was talking about 911 services.  This exposes a serious problem with VoIP services in general.  Internet outages can affect VoIP phone service quality and availability, even if the problem is across the country or across the world.  This also means there are dozens of possibly causes of a problem and it can be totally out of your providers control when an out does occur.  Just look at how Youtube was knocked down because of a policy decision in Pakistan and an error in Hong Kong. The cost savings can be compelling, but I would be hesitant to recommend switching to a VoIP phone provider if you don’t have a back phone, such as your cell phone, available.
