T-Mobile enters the VoIP marker

wifi.jpgT-Mobile has decided to dip its toe into the home VoIP market.  T-Mobile is testing a service in Dallas and Seattle that will allow its wireless customers to add a VoIP home phone line for just $10.  The offer is only available to T-Mobile customer with a Hotspot account.  A Hotspot account allows you to make calls without using any plan minutes if your phone is connected to a Wi-Fi network.  You obviously need a Wi-Fi enabled cell phone.  The main idea of the Hotspot plan was to make it free to use your cell phone at home by routing calls over your Wi-Fi network rather then through the cellular network.  Many people have cancelled their home phone service and gone exclusively cellular.  However, without a regular home line, you can only use your cell phone to make and receive calls.  This isn’t always convenient.  Adding a VoIP line to your Hotspot account will give you a more traditional home phone line that will work with any regular phone.
