Unlimited calling plans have been the norm for home phones for a while now. Cell phone service has still been based on plan minutes used and there are still hefty charges for going over your plan minutes. However, Verizon Wireless is changing the game. Today, Verizon introduced an unlimited calling plan for $99.99 a month, a move that was swiftly matched by AT&T and T-Mobile.
Verizon Wireless was apparently the first major carrier to make an "unlimited" plan available nationwide with no domestic roaming or long-distance fees. Its announcement was all but five hours old when AT&T announced its own unlimited plan.
Sprint has been testing an unlimited plan in Florida and hasn't announced any plan to take it nationwide.
