Last week 3 undersea fiber optic cables went down cause wide spread Internet outages across the So many cable failures in such a short period of time, all in the Middle East, has given rise to many conspiracy theories. The leading one is that the CIA has been responsible for the outages, possibly to affect a communications blackout against Iran. However, Iran was not particurally affected by any of the outages. Another theory is that terrorists caused the outages to destabilize the region.
Conspiracy theories aside, the 1st three cables outages have been blamed on ship’s anchors, but the latest outage is being blamed on a power outage. FLAG, which owns 3 of the damaged cables said they would be repaired bu Sunday.
