All the adapters had a web interface with dozens of settings. The multitude of settings were not universal and were very confusing. The one constant was that the supplied documentation was virtually useless. Tech support was helpful in most instances, but hit was hit or miss depending on the tech you got on the phone. Again, I must stress, this is not something for a novice. I’ve been doing this for a long time and it took me hours to make some of the adapters work correctly.
I rated the adapters in 3 categories; setup, call quality, and reliability.
On a scale of 1 to 10, the set up average was 3. There was only 1 bright spot in the setup round. The Grandstream 386 was the only adapter that I set up in less then an hour. I did need to call tech support twice, but they were very helpful. One reason the Grandstream set up was easier is that there are far fewer settings then on the other adapters. That made the Grandstream less configurable and made it virtually impossible to tweak the call quality.
