For more then 20 years Toshiba’s business telephones have remained relatively the same. There have been a few small cosmetic changes and one big one when their phones went from electronic to digital, but overall phones made in the late 80’s look remarkably like the Toshiba phones made today. That is no longer the case. Toshiba has released the 5000 series of digital telephones for its flagship CIX product line.
The first thing you’ll notice is that the phones come on an adjustable tilt stand. Previously, Toshiba phones sat flat on your desk. The new built in stand allows the phones to swivel almost 90 degrees. Next the displays are much larger and have 4 lines instead of 2. There are even backlit models. There is a large screen backlit model with a 9 line display as well.
Toshiba hasn’t upgraded their IP phones yet. The new style sets are only for standard TDM phones, but new IP phones should be out at some point.
