DECT (Digital Enhanced Cordless Telecommunications) 6.0 is the newest cordless phone technology. DECT cordless telephones provide improved range and clarity versus existing 2.4 GHz, and 5.8 GHz models. This proven and reliable technology has been in use for many years in Europe and has proven to provide excellent voice quality and sound, high protection against eavesdropping and better range than 2.4 GHz and 5.8 GHz phone systems.

DECT phones transmit at 1.9 GHz.  Over the years, cordless phones have transmitted at ever higher frequencies; 900 MHz to 2.4 GHz to 5.8 GHz. Higher frequencies were being used to try and find less used bandwidths to avoid interference, but higher frequencies have shorter range, more difficulty in going through walls, and require more power.  The 1.9 GHz platform has been set aside exclusively for cordless phone use, which means that DECT 6.0 models have superior sound quality and no interference from 802.11 WiFi wireless networks or other wireless devices.
