Panasonic’s KX-WP1050 lets you make Skype calls without your computer. The KX-WP1050 is a combination 2.4 Ghz 802.11g WiFi cordless handset and a special wireless router. The router can be used on it’s own or behind an existing router.
The first thing I noticed is that the handset is incrediably light and sleak. The handset only weighs 100 grams and is only ¾ of an inch thick. It has 1.8 inch TFT LCD display capable of 65,000 colors. The display is bright and very easy to read. The display has 3 modes. When you press a key the display lights up brightly. While on the phone or after 7 seconds without pressing a key the display dims. 30 seconds later the display shuts off completely to save battery life. The phone comes with a 730 mAh lithium ion rechargable battery. There is no charging stand. You must charge the phone from a USB port using (included) a USB to mini-USB cable. There is a USB charging port on the base unit or you can use any USB port on a computer.
More tomorrow.
